Movie Synopsis: New York in the innocent-seeming era of the '30s, '40s, and '50s is the subject of this Emmy award-winning program. Times and pleasures were simpler then. Kids had fun playing stickball in the streets and adults whiled away the hot summer nights on rooftops and front porches, talking with friends and listening to baseball on the radio. The charm of that bygone era is captured in this PBS series, with archival film clips, photographs, and personal accounts from the famous and ordinary people who called New York their home.
